BY JOSEPH KHAOYA

Threats from the elected leaders from the Rift valley region in the Kenya kwanza government to impeach CS Moses Kuria has caused tensions in president William Ruto’s camp.

There are indications that president William Ruto’s kenya kwanza coalition is not stable. This emerges after the government experiences opposition from within, when the elected leaders from the Rift valley region threatens to impeach CS Moses Kuria on what they termed as betrayal to their people after ordering the GMO maize from outside the country.

Led by Nandi governor Samson Cherargei, the leaders said that farmers from Rift valley are harvesting maize and therefore the GMO’S will make the prices drop hence causing the losses to the farmers. They also want the gorvernment to purchase from within so as to boost internal farmers.

On the other hand,Mt.Kenya leaders also differed with the president over the nomination of EALA members where they went astray with the president’s lineup.Dp Rigathi Gachagua confirmed that he led Mt Kenya leaders to rally behind the former Kieni MP Kanini Kega so as to have their region represented in EALA.

The EALA factor also brings in the western region, where the national speaker Mosese Wetang’ula and super CS Musalia Mudavadi come from.Musalia and Wetang’ula also feels sidelined by the president on those nominations as none from their region was nominated. There is also scramble in the Bungoma senatorial by election where the front runners are former Moses Wetang’ulas PA Wafula Wakoli on a Ford Kenya party ticket and UDA’S Mwambu Mabongah who lost the Bumula parliamentary seat to DAP-K’s Wanami Wamboka in the last general elections.

Road Safety

Our roads are investments by our government. That is very important and key. We are always reminded to keep them in good conditions.

Back in my primary school education, we had lessons on how to cross the roads and sometimes our teachers could take us and do the task practically. Look left, right, twice before crossing the road was almost a chorus in my school. For sure bit of road signs classes were also important despite the fact having if not two, one of the signs on my village road.

Among the road signs we could know were children crossing, stop and police check. Sincerely speaking we had no bumps hence knew no signs of the same. We could sometimes be creative and put up our locally made bumps which could last barely half a day or so.

Road safety is a topic that many can ignore because they assume to understand everything on roads. The truth is even our traffic police have little knowledge on road safety and maybe that’s the reason we have cases of bribery on the roads daily. Nevertheless, our drivers and actually their trainers also share a little scope of road safety knowledge.

Having said all that, what do we mean by road safety? Firstly, we are looking at accident free environment. A very broad topic! How do we achieve that? Every answer of the question we ask ourselves about road accidents in our fingertips. Safety starts with ourselves. Ourselves meaning those boarding vehicles(drivers and passengers)

We are not yet on the personal attributes of the drivers, but on the general road or traffic rules. The driver should adhere to the rules and laws of road use. Maintain your lane, don’t overtake carelessly, maintain your vehicle, observe road signs instructions just naming a few.

The passengers should act as watchdogs and ensure they are not carried as any other luggage; 11 pass vehicle carrying 16 people are they are comfortable. That should not be the spirit. The ‘sambaza’ story should be a past tense!

REASONS FOR QUICK BREAK-UPS IN RELATIONSHIPS (Late 20th & 21st century generations).

Marriage is sacred according to the bible and traditional customs. Though with change in time and seasons, people’s thoughts and perceptions have evolved. In the past, during the previous generations, we had successful marriages which some of us can ascertain from our parents. It is not because they were special, but because they were taught the importance of maintaining marriages and keeping them sacred.

Misunderstandings

What has changed? This 21st century generation has a lot of bizarre characters. In Kenya we call them ‘sipangwingwi generation’ meaning they can’t be told what to do! From my side I guess this is the problem. As I had said earlier, the previous generation had courtship where men and women were taught to respect each other before moving into marriage. Now imagine doing that with people of ‘sipangwingwi’ mind? We have lost track simply because we don’t educate our children about real life situations for we think they cant listen and follow. That is actually the case!

Religion played a big role in shaping the society, but these days most churches care about the offerings than transforming humankind. People can dress anyhow to the church, use electronic gadgets without fear and even chase each other for love affairs in the church. Who or where should we turn to?

Our government longer has a say on what is aired on social media platforms. Our livestream media has become more biased than ever. Music production is free regardless of the content. Shouldn’t we fear pornography being aired in livestream media in the near future if strict regulations won’t be put across? The government should actually intervene.

All that being said, no one will come into your household to teach you how to treat your wife or husband. People will only come to solve wrangles so it is your personal choice to decide how you want to live with your partner.

Marriages these days don’t last any longer. Given 5 years then you are in the book of records for being the most understanding and loving partner. Why is that so? If we say people date for fun others will say no. If we say people date for money, many will object. Then what is it?

Speaking to one lady from Kenya, she gave the following points:

People do not prepare adequately for marriage .

Yes. People nowadays just rush into marriages because they have found handsome or beautiful partners. You find out that these days there is no courtship. People just meet and move in together without knowing the roles they will be playing in the marriage. By the time someone realizes that the roles in marriage require commitment and sacrifice, they walk for they think that is suffering.

People do not take time to know their spouses well.

You meet me today, i crack jokes, you fall for me. The next day you are in together. What do you expect? You have no idea who your partner really is because you just met in college or town. You have no background history of him or her, but you just trust them with everything including your secrets. Those are the cases where you hear a partner just disappeared with house belongings or even conned the companion. In this case someone just knows you cant find them incase they leave hence they treat you anyhow. Incase you know your partner’s history it will be easy to trace many things and connect many dots bringing about understanding.

Early marriages .

We have seen cases of people getting into marriage at the age of 17. By the the time they are 25 they have 4 children and tired of each other. Hurrying into marriage unprepared is never a solution of escaping the rules or ‘noise’ from your parents, but instead an hindrance for your preparation for marriage. In the Kenyan constitution, early marriages especially for ladies is a crime. People start realizing themselves at the age of 22-25 for ladies and above 24 for men so it is important you wait for the right time when the mind is ready to settle for marriage.

When partners expect more than they can get.

Money and fame. People in this current generation love these two. Vision and mission are for the few in society. Mostly when a man is chasing a girl, they give a lot, attention, gifts, money you can name them. This usually changes after they have committed to be together. What usually happens? Responsibilities emerge and growth. Now you need to come together and think of investments not chocolates. It doesn’t mean chocolates won’t be there, but first priorities first. In such cases complains of ” you have changed’ erupt. The next thing is cheating and then divorce.

Peer pressure.

There are more special people than your man/woman out there. There are men / women with money who want you out there. There are more beautiful/handsome people who want you out there. Why are you sticking with your stingy broke partner ? With such kind of friends your relationship is doomed and if you walk out they will tell you how they are planning their weddings and honey moons . Shame will be on you!

Poor upbringing.

Parents play a key role in shaping the character of their children. After beauty and handsomeness , one will concentrate on your character. This will actually determine whether you are compatible or not. and if not then you part ways unless you want to live miserably and die young.

*These are just but a few reasons why people in this current generation don’t last long in marriages. My next post will explore on issues of insecurities in relationships and the role phones play in the same.

Today at the KICC grounds, the ODM leader and the Azimio coalition flagbearer Hon. Raila Odinga announced the Narc-Kenya leader Hon. Martha Karua as his runningmate. Raila said this came after extensive consultations with Azimio stakeholders and supporters who proposed Martha Karua.

Those who had earlier presented their intentions of eyeing for the position include Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Peter Kenneth, Sabina Chege, Peter Munya, Wycliffe Oparanya and the the now Deputy president (asp) Martha Karua.

Kalonzo Musyoka was trusted with the position of overall cabinet secretary, Peter Munya retaining the agriculture cabinet position and Hassan Joho as the cabinet for lands.

Martha Karua is trusted for the position for she has served in the government since her early 20s. She has been in the cabinet and has actually contested for the president seat.

The Azimio la Umoja coalition believes that gender parity is the way to go for the nation. They trust that involving women in top position of the deputy president which is historic in Kenya will bring about positive changes.

The political temperatures are now getting hotter for the two horses as Kenyans await the launching of the manifestos from UDA and Azimio.

Rigathi Gachagua

Kenya Kwanza has brought a rarely spoken-of man to lime light. Rigathi Gachagua is now all over the news after being declared the running-mate of the deputy president, Dr. William Samoei Ruto in the upcoming August election.

Rigathi Gachagua was later elected as an MP of Mathira constituency in the year 2007 under the jubilee ticket.

Gachagua has consistently served a s a personal assistant in his duties, one among the reasons he was selected for the post. He is also a billionaire and a reknown businessman.

Case study: Challenges of investigative journalism.

Investigation requires a lot of creativity, determination and persistence. In my investigation I encountered a number of barriers though at least I managed to counter some whereas others were little bit challenging.

First let me take you through my findings.

 Findings and conclusion

In my research I found out that from the students I spoke to, they believe that all the lost laptops were cases of theft. Most of them confessed that the laptops were stolen from their hostels through the windows as they were in class. They said that even behind locked doors the windows are too week and have no grills hence making it easier for thieves to steal and get away.

Victims of the losses also confessed that most of the laptops were stolen towards the end of the semester when they were busy studying for exams. Most cases that I found out happened between 2018 October and 2019 October. After speaking to the people at the gate they told me that during this period they had just moved to the new gate hence they hadn’t set up the entire security system that helps confirms ownership of the laptops.

The chief security officer on his side maintained that the laptop were not stolen but just misplaced. He claimed that in case of theft then the culprits would be caught at the gate. He also said that the administration is working with other universities to ensure they integrate the system used by multimedia university in their campuses so as to avoid cases of exchange of laptops between campuses.

He claimed that to date they have received 150 cases of lost laptops. Of this, 20 have been recovered by students themselves from their colleagues which is why he maintains his stand that this are cases of negligence and carelessness and not theft.

I also found out that of all the laptops lost 80 percent belonged to men raising the question on whether the ladies hostels is safer.   There were also few cases of armed robbery whereby my source claimed that the area around Bangladesh slum which is adjacent to the university perimeter wall is not safe. Several students claimed to have been threatened by thieves with crude weapons. This mostly occurs anytime the university goes on strike. Speaking to Mugambi about the Bangladesh issue, he claimed that that’s outside the university jurisdiction and there is very little that can be done.

Generally the laptop theft in multimedia university is getting worse by the day. No one is willing to take responsibility for this situation. The administration puts blame on student while the students put blame on the administration. I tried moving out with a laptop that was not ours from the gate, I was told to register at the computer office which I did. I just gave the number and they didn’t bother to check further. Within a few minutes Iwas out with my “stolen” laptop. This proved that the security office is not doing enough to catch thieves if there are any.

Difficulties

1. Reluctant sources

Some sources especially the administration and the school workers were so reluctant to give me information regarding the theft of the laptops.

2. Secrecy of the administration

Most of the administration officers claimed that they had signed an oath of secrecy hence they could give me all the information I required.

3. Gender barrier

Some of the girls I approached for information were resistant. Some of them thought I had ill intentions hence this hindered me from getting all the information I wanted.

4. Shortage of financial resources

Some of the information I wanted required to be collected from far places like police stations hence I was required to travel often. This required cash which was a challenge to me.

5. Red tape

Some of the sources were reluctant to give me information because they were demanding for a formal request in writing.

6. Ethical pitfalls

Media ethics hindered me from getting some information especially from the sources that valued their privacy hence I couldn’t intrude.

7. Brown envelop journalism

Most sources especially students were requesting for money before giving me information. This gave me hard time for it was against journalistic ethics.

8. Pressure to meet deadline

Time factor was also another challenge. I had a deadline to beat and time was limited hence I had to work with the information I had collected within the provided span.

9. Lack of access to information

Some of the sources especially the administration and the catch security did not allow me to access any information directly from the tracking devices and their records.

10. False information

Students especially those who are not victims of theft were just giving allegations instead of facts. Some of the information regarding the number of lost gadgets was barely true and this almost hindered my investigation because figures are sensitive.

How to Grow YouTube Channels By optimization

The Best In The World

Most people these days are investing online. Online investments require dedication of one’s time and mind. We all know that nothing comes easy hence we are required to put more effort on every endeavor for it to bear fruits.

When we look at the channels that have succeeded in YouTube we ask ourselves several questions: are those people or owners of those channels connected, do they use money to get followers? The answer is a big no. What they have done is dedicate their time and draw their attention towards growing. Never FORGET THAT GROWTH is a process. It takes patience before succeeding.

Apart from all thiose virtues, there are other secrets that brings about online success. Today i want to categorically talk about YouTube. I’m Going to list them below:

Firstly, one has to be unique in their content.

Being unique means you dont copy what someione else is doing and post the same on your channel. Be original to avoid violating the privacy rights and copyrights.

Be consistent.

Avoid posting one thinng then dissapear for several years. Be consistent in feeding your audience with content. Hasve a timetable that will guide you non when to post and stick to it. This will help keep your audience on toes.

Remind your audience to subscribe and hit the notification button and even share/ download.

Customers or clients need to be enticed and bampered to be loyal. Some YouTubers behave as if subscriptions are a must for all those who watch thier channel. No! The audience has to reminded now and then to do the processes since some can be carried away by the goood content you post and forget to subvscribe. That may end up not helping you. So normalize reminding your audiences on the same.

                                                      FOOTBALL WAR

Football war was a soccer war that took place in the year 1969. The war was between Honduras and El Salvador ( Central American countries). The war lasted from 14th -18th July 1969 hence adopted the name 100Hour War.

The football war was as a result of a match between Honduras and El Salvador. It was their third game for qualification for the 1970 World cup. The two teams had previously played two matches. The first game Honduras beat El Salvador 1-0. The second game El Salvador emerged winners by beating Honduras 3-0. The third game which was played at Azteca stadium, Mexico city was at 2-2 by the 90 minute. During the extra time  the player Rodriguez saved El Salvador by scoring an additional goal making it El Salvador 3-2 Honduras. The game ended peacefully.

Three weeks after the match, the soccer war was started. The host of the isssues at the root of the war was that Salvadorans had demographic issues while Hondurans had issues over land reform.

The 100 Hour war left  6000 people dead,12,000 wounded and 50,000 homeless. Salvadorans made more than 20% of Honduras.  The Honduran president Oswaldo Lopez Arellano began to deport thousands of Salvadorans home giving the Salvadoran president, Fidel Sanche a hard time to cope with the large number of migrants.

The importance of media

Media has over the years been termed as the forth estate because of its functions. Below is a list of some of the roles that media play:

Media is a watchdog

Media as the gatekeeper

Media as the voice of the public

Media as an educator

media as an entertainer

Media as a career

There are many more other functions of media which can’t be exhausted, but most importantly is that media plays a major role in shaping the individual, local, national and international life aspects.
